Bill was the Group Scout Leader at 17th Tonbridge Air Scouts before ‘retiring’ to head the Microlight Air Activities Support Team in March 2010.
He joined 17th Tonbridge first as a Band Instructor in November 1985 and worked with the band for 12 years. He became an Assistant Scout Leader for the Troop in March 1987 then the Scout Leader in May 1991.
He was awarded the Chief Scout’s commendation for Good Service to Scouting in 1998, and received a Medal of Merit in 2005.
Bill made the initial connection between Air Scouting and Old Hay Airfield. This legacy ensures that opportunities to fly in Kent Scouts’ Microlight Aircraft are available for young people across the County.
A wonderful man with great enthusiasm for scouting and a zest for life.
