Climbing Assessment Dates

Kent Scouts Climbing Active Support Unit have organised training weekends for adults, mature Explorers and Young Leaders. These training weekends are the first step to gaining a Walls & Towers climbing permit with the Scout Association.

The adventurous activities permit scheme allows not only adults, but young people to gain leadership and supervisory climbing permits, enabling them to instruct climbing to Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers across the UK. Note that although a person of any age can apply for a permit, maturity is a requirement for the instruction of climbing and would be a deciding factor on assessment.

For more information on this, please refer to the following link:

What is covered:

-Policy, Organisation and Rules

-Climbing – Set up, safety, group management, rescue

-Abseiling – Set up, safety, group management, rescue

-Bouldering – safety, group management, games

These courses are set up for completed novices all the way through to experienced climbers and if you are interested in gaining the experience and knowledge required to instruct climbing to young people within the Scout Association, then please click the link to book online:

This training course does not include assessment, and it is recommended that trainees gain experience between training and assessment. Further information on this will be provided on the course.
